Meet The “Team Tumbleweeds”

Two days before Mother’s Day 2021, Justin and Jen officially became the owners of Tumbleweeds. With two toddlers, purchasing the publication was bigger than a sale. Founder, Claudette Sutton passed the torch to the next generation to carry out the Tumbleweeds commitment of being the #1 resource for Northern New Mexico families.
Jen is a C level executive who has a passion for growing local businesses and building community.
Justin is a philanthropic professional who excels at stewarding relationships and connecting resources to community needs.
Tumbleweeds Magazine is an opportunity for the Schroer’s to combine their passion and expertise. They will continue Claudette’s tradition of producing a treasured local parent resouce, while navigating parenthood themselves.
Aleta Burchyski, Assistant Editor
Aleta has been editing magazines since 2008, most recently at Outside. She and her husband have been living in New Mexico and enjoying its great outdoors for the past decade, and recently have loved sharing it with their two young sons. When she’s not taking the boys on adventures, Aleta enjoys fly fishing, yoga, and writing fiction.
Tara Melton, Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Tara is a native northern New Mexican with a passion for both journalism and helping others. In addition to a career in journalism, Tara has worked in marketing for local nonprofits and the NM Tourism Department. In her spare time, Tara enjoys adventures with her dog, Marlo, and spending quality time with her nieces.
Jasmine Baptiste, Advertising Assistant
Jasmine joined the Tumbleweeds Team near the end of 2022, to support Justin with Advertising Management. Jasmine has a passion for working with small businesses, and promoting an active lifestyle through nutrition and fitness. In her free time, she can be found outdoors with her dogs and Fiancé, at a sporting event, and at the gym taking a workout class (most likely Yoga) or weight lifting!
