Santa Fe TradFest celebrates the rich and diverse cultural musical genres of Northern New Mexico: bluegrass, old-time, Hispanic New Mexican, cowboy, Cajun, Celtic and Native American. The sixth annual event will feature live performances, family activities, and a wide variety of music workshops and food vendors.
For this year’s event, festival planners are expanding the programs for children and youth. The Family Zone, led by Queen Bee Music Association, Wise Fool New Mexico, Santa Fe Community Yoga Center and others, will include an instrument petting zoo, circus try-it-out zone, kids sing-along, family ukulele strum-along, slow jam with Karina Wilson, family yoga, percussion jams, and arts and crafts. The Family Zone will be open to kids of all ages. Admission to the festival is free all weekend for all attendees 18 and under (a parent must be in attendance at the festival).
Exposing children and young people to the shared, rich array of musical and cultural traditions is a focus of Santa Fe TradFest, including opportunities for youth to perform with peers and experienced musicians. The Academy for Technology and the Classics (ATC) Varsity String Band will perform on the main stage and host an open, youth-centered jam session.
Santa Fe TradFest will be Aug. 26-28 at Bishop’s Ridge/Camp Stoney, 7855 Old Santa Fe Trail. Owned by the Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande, Camp Stoney is a beautiful, wooded site on the original Santa Fe Trail, 10 miles from downtown. Camp Stoney is an ADA-compliant facility, with covered stages and workshop/jam spaces for performers and audiences. Limited camping is available. The festival provides free golf carts to shuttle attendees between parking, lodging, camping sites and the various stages and food vendors.
